Direct Pay Model—Out-of-network for Insurances and Medicare
Physician and nurse colleagues have remarked that Dr. Barratt is fully invested in the care of her patients. She has also been told that her standards are very high. These are great compliments, but always catch her off-guard. Patient care requires expertise, time, and attention to detail. Unfortunately, insurance companies and health system administrators impose limitations on the care physicians can provide. Dr. Barratt has elected to provide direct neurological care, thereby serving her patients without third-party interference.
Dr. Barratt accepts payment directly from her patients. Those with private insurance can submit the billing information (superbill) to their insurance provider and request reimbursement. Some patients use their Healthcare Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) plans to pay for the visits.
In-person visits are preferred, especially for the initial consultation. Telehealth is also available.
